A Da Vinci SCULPTURE in Pescia, Tuscany!
During a very short and spontaneous visit to the Duomo (Cathedral) in Pescia, a small town in Tuscany, I was shocked to discover that I took so many snapshots, unknowingly of a Da Vinci sculpture. What surprise treasures this town has! Enjoy my photographs on a dark evening inside the church that had a huge Raphael original (now there is a copy in place) and really beautiful architecture, sculpture, paintings, metalwork, and a Della Robbia studio blue and white ceramic wall-mounted sculpture. The Pescia Duomo was a place I wish I had visited years ago, or at least without the hurry I was in the other night.

Presenting Artist Daniela Maccheroni from Pisa Italy
Daniela Maccheroni poses for me with her colorful painting of an angel praying over the artist's shadow. Her bright colors livened up the joint during her exhibit in Pisa, Italy, but what struck us more was how sincere her paintings felt. There was obvious suffering in them, feelings of abandonment and loneliness. Art . . . -

New Year's Eve Painting
Hi lovely art patrons! New Year's Eve is upon us. Did you know that I created a painting by that name? I was carving the marble Gymnast in Texas on December 31, 2010, when the scent of the air changed. The wind picked up, as did my excitement. I ran to our open field and saw a gorgeous sunset happening, tinged with gold . . . -
San Galgano: Sword in the Stone Legend - Chiusdino, Siena, Tuscany
In a lovely field in Tuscany just southwest of Siena lies the famous roofless church ruins, the Abbey of San Galgano. The nearest town Chiusino was the birthplace of the 12th century knight who became a saint after plunging a sword into a hard stone that "yielded like butter." The Gothic architecture is legend beauty. -

The Beauty of Men ~ Art
Dear Art lover, Many of us grew up in a culture that celebrates women as the gender of beauty and desire, at least in art and cinema (if your idea of celebrating means "featuring nude"). But then the Women's Lib Movement got exaggerated and distorted. What appeared to me as a struggle of equal rights got twisted into . . . -
Broken Back
https://borsheimarts.com/blogs/news/broken-back
Dear Art lover, I had a very different newsletter planned for the end of July. And here it is the first of August. I discovered on my 59th birthday yesterday that I have THIRTY TWO metal staples in my back. The bandage was changed for the first time since leaving the hospital in Livorno, Italy, last Saturday afternoon.
