Italy is renowned for its good quality food and drink. This still life painting features a straw flask bottle of Chianti wine (a region in Tuscany), red beautifully painted grapes with flecks of red, blue, and violet, even touches of orange, and Parmesan cheese. The green color in the wine bottle's label is balanced on the cut end of the branch for the cluster of grapes.
The effect of the cutting board of olive wood jutting out away from the wooden kitchen board below it, as well as the single grape near its edge, gives a feeling of impending movement or at least a bit of "whoa!" The text on the bottle is painted such that you recognize it as text, but cannot read it clearly enough to make out the name. Specially priced for a good home.
This 30 x 25 cm canvas, framed with a white distressed wood, ships from Norfolk, Virginia, USA.
I was asked to teach a private workshop to four lovely Australian ladies, for November 1, 2018. In preparing for this still life painting class, I created this composition. I liked it and decided to paint it myself.
A detail shot is provided, as well. I learned to paint writing or text so that you know that there are words in the art, but you cannot read them (see the Chianti wine label). I find that visually more interesting in most cases.
Also, one touch that I am a bit proud of is that the green in the wine bottle's label is balanced on the cut end of the branch for the cluster of grapes. And I do hope the effect of the cutting board sticking way out away from the wooden kitchen board below it, as well as the single grape near its edge, gives a feeling of impending movement or at least a bit of "whoa!"

I do not have a talent, eye, for framing art. So, I often allow my framers to do what pleases them. Most of the time I like it. Here, framer and gallerist Stefano Salvadori shows off his handiwork on my painting. His shop is in Pescia, Tuscany, in Italy. I like what he did with Chianti Wine, Cheese, and Grapes. Do you?
