San Galgano: Sword in the Stone Legend - Chiusdino, Siena, Tuscany
In a lovely field in Tuscany just southwest of Siena lies the famous roofless church ruins, the Abbey of San Galgano. The nearest town Chiusino was the birthplace of the 12th century knight who became a saint after plunging a sword into a hard stone that "yielded like butter."
