Yellow Tulips Painting
Tulips are one of my all-time favorite flowers. Oddly enough, I love the yellow ones best (they have a slight fragrance, whereas I rarely perceive a scent with tulips in general).
I bought these tulips for myself and placed them in my bedroom window. You may see those in the right side of this painting leaning towards the sun (cascading tulips!).
Another thing that I love is dramatic lighting (especially backlit or here, side-lit). And the curling long green leaves add a lot of play to this composition of three yellow tulips.
As I was thinking about my recent color plays, compared to painting realistically the old wooden shutters behind the tulips. In the end, I feel in love with the blues and purples and later decided to just imply some architectural lines behind the organic shapes of the flowers and leaves.
