Most artists create self-portraits, even when they are not creating figurative works. This is natural and a good thing. The "Spaceman" seems a more obvious portrait of the artist Vasily Fedorouk than perhaps many others of his wonderful stone carvings.
Limestone, like most hard stones, may be successfully displayed indoors or outside, as you wish. In his home, Vasily has this stone sculpture mounted on a tapering column. It gives the work height and an feeling of open space, appropriate for the piece. You may see at the bottom of the image, the top section of this column. The column is not included in the price you see here, but if you want it and the base under it, please inquire first
Vasily often depicted people looking towards the heavens. The "Spaceman" is making himself completely vulnerable, exposing his entire body in a cross-like pose. Vasily was very spiritual in that way, and his compositions often show his belief in the connection between god and nature.
