Tuscan Table PRINTS

(original acrylic painting has sold)

Remember the warmth of a full table of family and friends sharing a meal with their stories and jokes? This is a print of a painting done of a Tuscan table in a private family home. Italy is full of old wooden tables in front of a fireplace. Families often cooked using the copper skillets hung in the fireplace, as seen in the background here. The light from a side window gives a nostalgic, romantic, and cozy look to this dining room and its memories.

The hand-carved wooden bowls, one tending to gray, the other reddish, add to the texture and comfort in the scene. This is a print of the original (sold) mixed media painting on paper.

Tuscan Table

There is comfort food and comfort art. This next painting I share with you gives me a very peaceful feeling and memory. I had gone with a close friend to the southwest region of Tuscany, to an area called Maremma. She wanted to buy a tombstone for her late father who is buried in the area. When we stopped to visit at the home some of her long-time family friends, I was struck by the light in the dining room and the rich wood of the table in front of old chairs and stone walls. This room invited me. I let them visit each other . . .

This painting is done mostly in a monochromatic theme, but there is red in one of the bowls and the copper pot hung on the wall in the background. Also, the bowl in front was painted in blacks and greys, not browns. I like this subtle change of color.

I received this lovely comment in the e-mail and here print it with permission:

Subject:  Tuscan Table:

All I wanted to say after all this digital rigmarole is how good this painting is and how much I liked it. I found that, although superficially simple, it is more than it appears and Kelly has taken enormous trouble to find the right values and deal with detail and perspective where it had to be dealt with. The softness and beauty of the colours make it a lovely painting. I am trying to paint portraits and do this with realism as this is the only way I can judge whether or not I have painted well. I find it enormously rigorous and, because it seems so rare, am always struck by it when I see it in another. Bravo.

Thank you and happy painting and drawing, Andrew!

PRINT DETAILS:

The image area is as listed and the white border is around the image, making the print a wee bit larger. Each fine art reproduction is printed on quality Italian paper. (The word "Print" will not appear on the print.) I recommend framing behind a non-glare glass, with a mat, and simple frame. The color of the mat and frame should go with the color of the print.

Care for your print just as you would any work on paper: do not display in direct sun and protect from humidity. The framer should attach the print to the support ONLY on the TOP edge, allowing the paper to hang freely behind the mat. That freedom allows the paper to respond well to most levels of changing humidity.
