Daydreaming of Yesterday ~ Original Charcoal Drawing of Seated Woman
This relaxing pose by a nude woman will surely send you off on your own daydreams, as art in your bedroom or any peaceful space. My friend Jessica is from Sicily and has those dramatically dark, beautiful looks typical of Mediterranean women. My colleague Dana and I hired her in January 2009 to pose for us in Dana's apartment in Florence, Italy.
I have had a lot of conversations with models over the decades and I find it interesting how many of them use their pose time to get some brain-work done. Some use it as a form of mediation, this staying still and isolated, despite being with others. In the meantime, I enjoyed the star-shaped shadows on Jessica's face and designed the figure, not just copy what I see. Her body made a bit of a C-curve, so I contrasted that by putting in a rectangular window with other shapes and tones to balance out the composition.
Daydreaming of Yesterday is beautifully framed and ready to hang.
