Beautiful realistic pencil drawing of a man nude torso, actually a self portrait of the Ukrainian-American artist Vasily Fedorouk. The technique is hatching (short lines, often crossing each other to create darker tones). The arms are up, bent behind the head at the elbows. The face is nebulous in the shadows.
Most artists create self-portraits of one kind or another. This is one of the rare drawings by Ukrainian-American sculptor Vasily Fedorouk that exists. While classically trained in the Ukraine (hence he had a thorough understanding of drawing, the basis of all visual arts), when he was in the USA, he spent more of his energies on carving stone.
This drawing is exquisite and the only drawing that I have seen in his home that is available and a rare actual self-portrait of this amazing artist who has work in several continents and museums.
