We live in a world of duality, that is two opposing ideas. The yin and yang, the masculine and feminine energies, dark and light, night and day, sweet and sour: these concepts are all around us.
In this stone sculpture, an abstract male figure and abstracted female figure sit facing one another, their legs blending into one shape. Each look off beyond the other one. Are they keeping watch over the other's back? Protection? A moment of silent comradery? Interpret how you like.
This lovely stone carving consists of a black limestone for the figures, with a black granite rectangular base. The small artwork may be exhibited indoors or out, but only perhaps in a small intimate garden if outside. The sculpture weighs 29.6 pounds.
