    There are so many of Vasily's sculptures that I love.  In fact, I have several pieces of his in a variety of media in my personal collection.  This stone carving is another one that has so much of his voice in it.  It is a self-portrait as a centaur.  You can see his Ukrainian roots in this composition.  And he developed a style in which his faces were long with the eyes more than half-way up the height of the head.

    What, to me, is so gorgeous about this one-of-a-kind stone sculpture is the softness he created from a hard rock.  You can tell by the lines that separate the dark from the light... soft and sensual edges everywhere.  Truly beautiful and quite the find.  The Centaurus is sure to enhance your art collection!
