When you have a stone with a very strong personality, the artist must create a simple design to show off that quality in the rock. This Canadian marble is full of white starburst shapes in an otherwise dark grey and black stone. There are parts that remind me of rivers running through land, as photographed by satellite above.
There are crystals in the marble that are really lovely. So, I went back to my inspiration of the sea to create a dance of sorts, inspired by the graceful manta rays. Note the shadows that Encounter casts as the light passes over and through this stone carving.
Encounter has been sealed, like all of my other stones, and is a hard marble. It should be fine to display either indoors or out.
Shipping from Norfolk, Virginia, Encounter, as with all of my artworks, can be purchased with my LawAway payment plan, no finance charge. You set the date and the amount that you would like to pay each month. One-third of the price [regardless of when that balance is reached] becomes the non-refundable deposit. [However, in the event that you change your mind or situation, this deposit may be applied towards any other available Borsheim Artwork.] However, I am happy to accept immediate payment in full and ship this one-of-a-kind marble carving to the address of your choice so that you or your loved one may enjoy her sooner than later. Please contact me if this one-of-a-kind marble sculpture interests you.
Thanks so much,

Manta Rays ("Encounter") ~ Contemporary Stone Sculpture: Close-up of the Crystals in the Marble
Carving the Original Marble Sculpture
12 May 2007: You can see the chisel marks here, as well as my crayon drawings on the marble. Also, some of the beautiful crystals in the stone are already making themselves known in this dusty light. Let the fun begin!
