I only got to visit three cities in Morocco:  Fez, Marrakesh, and Essaouira (the latter on the coast, where I mostly watched the water).  Each of those places had a color strike me.  Fez was white, Marrakesh, deep pink, and Essaouira was a bright sky blue and white.  You will not see this quality of the architecture in The Beggar because I did not include any real architecture, but the colors left an impression on me.  I did paint The Blue Path, but the work has sold and it may take me some time to post.

I did paint The Merchant (sold), inspired by a man in Marrakesh.  That pastel painting is in the similar tall and this proportion that The Beggar has.  I wanted to contrast the two.  The Merchant is simply sitting down, leaning his head against the wall.  He is doing absolutely nothing but waiting for clients to arrive.  The Beggar, however, turns out to be the go-getter, being proactive in his life and fortune.  It was interesting to witness.

I would like to present to you the first in the new art collection/exhibition titled, "Passages - Morocco."  I hope you enjoy your travels and can also journey with me for a bit longer . . .
