Il Ponte Vecchio ~ Florence, Italy

16 x 22 inch fine art print

Florence, Italy, offers artists just about everything from great architecture, Tuscan hills, and people engaged in a variety of activities. This image shows a group of tourists ignoring the beggar woman Maria on the Ponte Vecchio (old bridge), a famous landmark.

The bonus and, of course, the subject of this original charcoal drawing is still the light. This is a beautiful view of a silhouetted Ponte Vecchio framing the next bridge upstream (the Ponte alle Grazie) with some Tuscan hills in the background.

Maria begs from tourists who seem oblivious to her. She is wearing burgundy. The rest of the image is black and white. I tend to be a fan of back-lighting, even if I am often blinded or even crying a bit as I draw. But seriously, what an effect the light has!

This is a 16 x 22 inch print of the original charcoal drawing on Roma-brand paper. The image area is as listed and the white border is around the image, making the print a wee bit larger. Each fine art reproduction is printed on quality Italian paper.

(The word "Print" will not appear on the image.)

Framing Tips:

I recommend framing behind a non-glare glass, with a mat, and simple frame. The color of the mat and frame should go with the color of the print. Care for your print just as you would any work on paper: do not display in direct sun and protect from humidity. The framer should attach the print to the support ONLY on the TOP edge, allowing the paper to hang freely behind the mat. That freedom allows the paper to respond well to most levels of changing humidity.
