During my first trip to Italy (2004), I was fortunate enough to visit Carrara. It is the town famous for the marble quarries. Most of the sculptors have moved to the nearby Pietrasanta or Seravezza, but I saw this marble sculpture being carved in a local studio there.
I liked the flowing lines draped over the figure who seems unaware of being viewed. One of my monochromatic paintings, this tall vertical figure is simply elegant and peaceful.
The painting is on gallery-wrapped canvas, measuring 38 x 16 inches. Framing is optional since I painted the design on the sides. as well.
