The Model ~ Original Oil Painting
This painting depicts the gaze of the artist as a model disrobes before assuming the pose of the life drawing session. The fabric of her robe swirls around her body. The white lining around the arms helps add attention to the upper body.
This painting was also an experiment in form and texture. I used marble dust in the high points of the torso. Also, after painting the figure, I glazed over the edges, almost in the same way that an old photograph goes darker at the edges, to put the focus on the beauty of the body.
The frame is a lovely subtle metallic, sometimes appears like a light gold, other times a subtle silver. I am not sure what this color is called, perhaps a platinum gold?
