This still life painting consists of a variety of objects: weathered old books, old tin cans, a ceramic jar of spices, and curiously, a sculpture. It is a bust of a woman with an elaborate crown on her head, with a cluster of grapes with leaves on the side of her head. She must be the queen of some sort of abundance, no?
Behind the female portrait is a golden marble base supporting a round wooden object, with lovely wood grain texture. There are letters painted loosely on the old books. What stories do they tell?
Queen of the Shelf is a still-life painting, oil on primed wood panel. The artwork is framed with distressed white wood, with a gold inner lining. The art measures 40 x 60 cm (just under 16 x 24 inches) before the frame was added. Lovely addition to your collection for a study or home office or living room.
This was a joy to paint! Interesting to see what people put on their shelves. This one has a statue bust of a queen, along with books and special containers. I am striving to make the painting look "realistic" but up close, more painterly. I hope you enjoy the textures in this close-up image of this still-life painting. Please contact the studio if you would like this artwork for your collection. Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm,
