Inverno is Italian for "Winter." The personification of Winter is depicted in this colorful pastel and charcoal drawing by Kelly Borsheim. The artist has spent many winters in Europe and has been charmed by the European celebrations of the seasons. Enjoy the layers of colors in the pure pigments that are pastel . . .
Kelly first started working with the medium of pastel when she became a madonnara (street painter) in Florence, Italy in September 2007. Knowing that the art would not last more than a day, she had the freedom to explore layering of colors in a way that might not have happened otherwise.
Inverno is framed with a double mat [the inner is a thin purple inner], glass, and a subtly striped black frame. This pastel portrait painting was part of the exhibit Luce dall'oscurità (Light from Darkness) in Florence, Italy, 2009.
