Joshua
What an elegant pose the way the nude male model has postured his stance and his head! Carbon pencil allows for a darker mark on the paper than a normal drawing pencil allows. And it is more difficult to get a subtle gradation of tone, thus, more difficult than charcoal drawing, too. But I wanted to try it and enjoy the result.
Joshua is a beautiful model and man. Patient, too. I no longer remember just how many 3-hour sessions (with breaks) I worked with Joshua to get this drawing just the way I wanted it. But probably several weeks, one evening per week.
This drawing is frame with a simple black outline frame. It has an ivory (off-white/almost cream) wide mat, and glass. The regal pose was perfect for this classical style of drawing that is NOT hyper-realism.
