Sandy ~ Original Oil Painting

This oil painting came from an original life drawing study that I did on a smaller sheet of paper in acrylic.  Often the drawing sessions were three hours (with model breaks, of course), but could have been as short as 20 minutes for what we called a "long pose."

In this period of my artistic career, I was interested in abstracting the figure by painting body crops.  And I see the world in triangles and I love the three-sided shape.  You will see many triangles in this composition.

I was also painting monochromatic designs, warm browns being my favorite, as they remind me of old fashioned sepia photographs and nostalgia.

I loved the sketch enough to create an oil painting from it.  I enjoy painting hands, as well.

Enjoy and thank you for reading!
