Olives and Oil
How to paint a rich red in various tones of light and shadow is a skill that painters must learn. Another one is how to paint a shiny white porcelain object by using non-white paint (because the whitest paint available will be the highlight on the glossy ceramic.
The green object, green olives in a transparent glass bowl in this case, is for color contrast and fun. I have done a couple of these paintings because I am so drawn to this rich red color.
I chose the soft yellow wooden box to add a cozy warmth and soften the dark background.
To top of the tastes of Italy depicted, I had Salvadori Cornici Bottega D'arte in Pescia, in the heart of Tuscany, frame this oil painting on linen.
She is a lovely little piece to add or start your art collection.
